5/17/2017 0 Comments SIX BICYCLING ROUTES IN VERNON, BCIndividuals and organisational members of the North Okanagan Coalition for Active Transportation (NOCAT) are proud to present six detailed bicycling routes in Vernon BC. The routes all feature detailed turn-by-turn route information, elevation guide and route map. All
six routes can be viewed on-line or downloaded to your hand held device. The routes are designed for a variety of skill levels and are suitable for both residents and tourists. All routes begin and end at the Vernon Recreation Centre, 3310 37th Ave, Vernon, BC. We hope you enjoy! Please share with your friends and family wherever they live. Send them this document Routes 1 & 2 are beginner routes following the 25th Avenue multi-use trail from 34th Street out to Kin Beach and Paddlewheel Park respectively. If your group has youngsters who are not ready for street cycling, begin at the public parking behind the People Place at 34th St. and 25th Av. (access via 27th Ave on 34TH St.) Routes 3 & 4 are short medium skilled routes. Route 3 utilises Vernon’s 29th Ave multi-use trail north to the Village Green Centre, east to the area of the Heron Rookery and returns via the Harwood multi-use trail. Route 4 takes rides on a loop tour to Kin Beach and back using bike lane routes on 27th Ave, Tronson and Okanagan Ave. Routes 5 & 6 are longer skilled routes. Route 5 takes riders into the hilly BX area and back through downtown Vernon. Route 6 circumnavigates Swan Lake, clockwise, returning on PV and through downtown Vernon. ABOUT NOCAT Our vision is a more vibrant North Okanagan with cleaner air and a healthier population achieved through a transportation system which prioritizes bicycling and walking. We believe active transportation plays a critical role in enhancing our region’s environmental and economic sustainability. As a community physiotherapist, she'd love to see more people of all ages engaging in an active lifestyle by walking and bicycling to where they need to go! Bruce MolBruce keeps active by walking and running in the Vernon area. When not on foot you can often see him on bicycle, with his trailer, shopping locally or taking his recycling to the depot.
